Toronto Pearson Street Festival
June 17 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
In celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, Toronto Pearson will be holding a community event on June 17th. Take a look behind the scenes at Toronto’s International Airport! Please register to attend at torontopearson.com/streetfest
Toronto Pearson has published these questions and answers about event details:
Q: How can I sign up for a 30-minute Airside Tour?
A: You can sign up for the tours once you arrive at the event site. As space is limited, if you don’t get a chance to take a tour at the Street Festival, or just don’t want to wait in line, don’t worry. We also run a separate public airside tour program from April-October. As part of our registration, you’ll be signed up for our regular Checking In e-newsletter and will be among the first to know when more tours open for registration. Tours are just one part of the Street Festival–this year, we’re excited to have more exhibitors than ever!
Q: More exhibitors than ever? Okay then, what can I expect to see at the Street Festival?
A: The Street Festival has things that everyone in the family can enjoy:
- Airport Equipment Displays There will be airplanes and field maintenance machinery to explore, and fire trucks to check out.
- Kids Zone
There will be activities for children of all ages, so make sure they are prepared for some fun!
- Community Stage There will be live entertainment on the Community Stage throughout the event, including, local performing artists from Brampton, Toronto and Mississauga and a special performance by the official Ontario 150 band Ginger Ale & the Monowhales
- Pearson Partners Tent
Meet the groups that contribute to the airport experience – from the terminal retailers and customer service groups, to the teams from the Canine Unit, the Noise Office, and the Environment Team.
- Community Partners Tent Our partners from the surrounding communities are coming out to tell you about how they are involved in their neighbourhoods as well as how they work with the airport.
A variety of different food trucks will be available to satisfy all sorts of cravings- but remember it’s cash only!
- Aircraft Display
Some of our airline partners will have their aircraft on display and we will have a viewing area where you will be able to take photos.
Q: Will there be food/drinks available?
A: There will be plenty of food for you to purchase at the Street Festival! Please remember that our vendors accept cash only.
Q: Can I bring my camera?
A: Yes, please take photographs! Post pictures while you’re at the event –use our Twitter hashtag #YYZStreetFest or tag us on Facebook.
Following the event, we’ll also be calling for your photo submissions for the 2017 Street Festival Photo Competition. The public will have a chance to vote on their favourite photos and the winners will be exhibited in our next e-checking monthly newsletter.
Q: Can we bring a stroller or a wagon?
A: Yes – we want your whole family to join us! There will be many activities for children to participate in.
Q: Can I bring my pet to the Street Festival?
A: Unfortunately, the only animals permitted are service animals. Pets can be a hazard to aircraft if they accidentally get loose on the airfield, so we cannot allow any animals on-site that are not trained service animals.
Q: Is there anywhere to store my personal belongings on site?
A: There is nowhere at the Festival area for you to securely store belongings. We encourage only
bringing the personal belongings, you can carry on your body in a backpack or a waist pouch, as there is
no place to store them on site. Otherwise there is always the option of locking your belongings in your vehicle.
Q: Am I able to smoke while I’m at the Street Festival?
A: Smoking is not permitted on the inside of the airport perimeter. There is a designated smoking area at the GTAA Administration Building, before you are transported to the airfield site. You will not easily be able to come and go to this area once you’re on the airfield site.
