[OCT 23 UPDATE] TTC Streetcar Track Replacement on Lake Shore Blvd West

Posted in Construction Notices, Updates, Ward 5

The City contractor’s work on the Queensway Bridge has encountered a minor schedule delay to the completion of stage 2 on the Queensway bridge rehabilitation project. Site conditions have required the need to remove more concrete than initially planned and as such, there has been an unscheduled increase of work in some areas.

The last construction update indicated “the existing South Kingsway southbound to The Queensway westbound ramp and The Queensway eastbound to Gardiner Expressway eastbound ramp cannot be opened until October 20, 2017”. Unfortunately, the high water level in Humber River, and Lake Ontario this year and several other minor issues have impacted this schedule, resulting in the ramp closures and associated detours having to remain in place until October 30, 2017.

Partial Intersection Closure – Lake Shore Blvd West  at Legion Road
Closure Start Date: 9:00AM Friday, October 27, 2017
Closure End Date:  6:00AM Monday October 30, 2017

In order to safely remove and replace the track allowance on a section of the street, the intersection of Lake Shore Blvd West at Legion Road will be partially closed for track replacement. This work will take place from 9:00 AM Friday, October 27 to 6AM Monday, October 30, 2017.

This project also includes the installation of a 1.4km bi-directional cycle track along Lake Shore Boulevard West from Norris Crescent to First Street. The City and contractor are working to recover lost time to complete the project by December 30.

We appreciate your patience as work has progressed this summer. The original work to install new TTC platforms east of Brooker’s Lane will be delivered by TTC as part of their work at the Humber Loop.
